Spring break was for the most part quite pleasant, and I’m now back in my dorm at UCLA. Spring break is such a tease because it’s ONLY a week long, and we quarter kids are already so worn out and have only one holiday to which we can look forward. Today was the first day of spring quarter, and my 8am class wasn’t so bad this morning. The first few minutes after my alarm rang were difficult to process, but I think it’ll be OK. Hopefully I can maintain this attitude! I am definitely looking forward to my Tuesdays off this quarter =D

One of the things I was looking forward to was using my new cereal-on-the-go cup my friend and I bought yesterday from The Container Store. It’s so cool!!! I freeze the gelled portion overnight or for a few hours, and it can chill my milk. It attaches to the bottom of another bowl that stores my cereal, and the lid has a spoon attached to it.

It fits wonderfully into the water bottle pocket on my backpack, and when I am ready to eat my morning cereal, I pour the milk into the cereal, and voila!

I actually managed to take pics on my cell phone today, haha. I have always been an on-the-go kind of gal because I like to maximize my sleep in the morning (especially after those nights when I can’t fall asleep). I almost always have my hot tea in a thermos, and now I can eat a better breakfast on-the-go! I can still have my occasional granola bar or muffin-halves (Costco muffins are just so huge!), but this is perfect for those long days I’ll be having. Also, I can finally get my much-needed calcium regularly.

I would totally buy the cereal-on-the-go bowls or breakfast-on-the-go bowls if they were practical enough to fit into my backpack without making my backpack heavy! At this rate though, my backpack will be full of food instead of books!

Going home always means I go out and get good food with friends/family and try to bake stuff. I never remember to take pictures because I always eat everything right away. I tend to eat a lot — I’m kind of a beast. My brothers always tell me I shouldn’t eat ribs, crawfish, or all-you-can-eat food outside of the family because I will really embarrass myself. Publishing this online probably doesn’t make me look any better, haha. Either way, I love me some food.

This week was filled with great finds and new discoveries, and I can’t wait for the weekends I will come back home to enjoy good food in good company. My only disappointment with this week is that I did not get crawfish, but I think I’ll be okay if I don’t get it because to be quite honest, I’ve eaten so much this week!!!

I hope to make some new discoveries in Los Angeles. Perhaps instead of using my free Tuesdays to do homework, I’ll walk around in Westwood and try things out. I also downgraded my on-campus meal plan to eat less! I get so sick of the food at school, so I think I would rather have 11 meals a week instead of 14, and I don’t really need the rollover option I had the first two quarters. I spent the last few weeks of each quarter trying to eat up all my extra meal swipes anyway. So for this quarter, I will need some ideas of food to bring from home or other dorm-friendly meals to make :)

¡HOLE MOLE! (pronounced holy moly) Last night, after a day of some much needed relaxation at home, I basically went third wheeling with my brother and his girlfriend. We got some amazing tacos from a little restaurant (more like a hole-in-the-wall) on Bellflower a few blocks from CSULB. The tacos were amazing, and I can understand why my cousin and brother were raving about it earlier in the day. The shrimp and fish were fried, so of course it was delicious. It makes me sad that I don’t have a place like this near UCLA even though Westwood spoils me with “good food.” I am completely jealous of everyone who goes to CSULB and can really milk this place for their one dollar tacos and fifty cent potato tacos. Tacos with potatoes don’t sound really appealing, but the potato filling was so well-seasoned and just so oily. MMMMM!!!! I wish I had taken pictures for you guys to see, but it all looked so scrumptious I didn’t have time to grab my camera and snap a pic!

I also finally went to Tastea today. The last time I went there was in early December which is quite insane for me. The last few times I’ve gone there, they were closed for holiday or closed for construction! I am so glad I finally got my boba fix because all the boba I’ve been having lately just was not good!

P.S. New layout. I’m not really big with Photoshop, so I just slapped some floral vector brushes together for a spring feel that wasn’t as “girly” as the first image. I love that Wordpress makes new layouts super easy to manage — way better than b2!
